Mac Studio (2025) SDXC Card Slot Board

Before You Begin

Warning

Read Mac Electrical Safety and follow workspace handling guidelines before you begin.

Remove the following parts before you begin:

Tools

  • Adjustable torque driver (10–34 Ncm)

  • ESD-safe tweezers

  • Nylon probe (black stick)

  • Torque driver (orange, 0.85 kgf cm)

  • Torx Plus 3IP 44 mm half-moon bit

  • Torx Plus 5IP 50 mm bit

Refer to a full list of tools required for all repairs.

Removal

Note: If you’ve already completed the removal steps, skip to reassembly.

  1. Position the computer so the rear ports are facing you.

  2. Use the orange torque driver and 3IP bit to remove the four 3IP screws (923-12499) from the two SDXC card slot board connector cowlings.

  3. Remove the two SDXC card slot board connector cowlings and save them for reassembly.

    • Important: Note the position of each cowling to ensure correct reinstallation.

  4. Use the black stick to lift both ends of the SDXC card slot board flex cable off the connectors. Remove the flex cable from the housing.

    • Important: Note the orientation of the flex cable for reassembly.

  5. Use the flat end of the black stick to flip up the locking lever on the status indicator light flex cable.

  6. Slide the end of the status indicator light flex cable out of the connector (1). Then gently peel the flex cable off the side of the SDXC card slot board (2).

  7. Stand the computer on its front with the back ports facing up.

  8. Use the adjustable torque driver and 5IP bit to remove the two 5IP screws (923-12502) from the SDXC card slot board.

  9. Lift the SDXC card slot out of the housing.

Reassembly

  1. Stand the computer on its front with the back ports facing up.

  2. Align the two guide pins on the front of the SDXC card slot board with the two holes in the housing (1). Ensure the status indicator light flex cable (2) doesn’t get caught between the SDXC card slot board and the housing.

  3. Set the torque value on the adjustable torque driver to 20.5 Ncm. Then use the adjustable torque driver and 5IP bit to reinstall the two 5IP screws (923-12502) into the SDXC card slot board.

  4. Position the computer so the rear ports face you.

  5. Slide the end of the status indicator light flex cable into the connector (1). Then flip down the locking lever (2). Press on the flex cable to adhere it to the side of the SDXC card slot board.

  6. Position both ends of the SDXC card slot board flex cable over the connectors. Press the ends of the flex cable to their connectors.

  7. Position the SDXC card slot board connect cowlings over the ends of the flex cable.

  8. Use the orange torque driver and 3IP bit to reinstall the four 3IP screws (923-12499) into the two SDXC card slot board connector cowlings.
