Identify a song using the Shortcuts app on Apple devices
You can use the Shortcuts app on iPhone, iPad, or Mac to add ready-made or custom Shazam app shortcuts to your Apple devices. The Shortcuts app lets you perform multiple tasks across multiple apps—you can, for example, create a shortcut that identifies a song, posts the song and its artwork to Instagram, then shares the song with your favorite music buddy—all with just a tap, click, or Siri request.
Add a music-recognition shortcut to your collection
To use a shortcut to identify a song, first add the shortcut to your collection in the Shortcuts app.
Go to the Shortcuts app
, then do one of the following:On iPhone or iPad: Tap Gallery
at the bottom of the main Shortcuts screen.On Mac: Click Gallery
in the sidebar.
Search for “Shazam,” then do one of the following:
On iPhone or iPad: Tap a shortcut, tap Add Shortcut or Set Up Shortcut, then follow any onscreen instructions.
On Mac: Click a shortcut, click Add Shortcut, then follow any onscreen instructions.
The shortcut is added to your collection.
Run a shortcut from your collection
After you’ve added a shortcut to your collection in the Shortcuts app, you can run the shortcut to identify a song with just a tap, click, or Siri request.
Do one of the following:
On iPhone or iPad: In the Shortcuts app
, tap a shortcut.On Mac: In the Shortcuts app
, click
on a shortcut.Say “Hey Siri,” then say the name of a shortcut.
Run a shortcut by tapping the back of your iPhone
After you’ve added a shortcut to your collection in the Shortcuts app, you can double-tap or triple-tap the back of iPhone to run the shortcut and identify a song.
On iPhone, go to Settings
> Accessibility > Touch > Back Tap.Choose Double Tap or Triple Tap, scroll down to Shortcuts, then tap a shortcut.
Note: Only shortcuts added to your collection in the Shortcuts app appear in the list of Back Tap actions.
To run the shortcut, double-tap or triple-tap the back of your iPhone.
