Manage notifications from Calendar on Mac
Calendar notifications appear in the top-right corner of the screen. You can click them to get directions, join meetings or snooze them. You can receive notifications from all calendars or only certain ones. You can also change how the notifications appear or turn them off altogether.
Respond to event notifications
On your Mac, move the pointer over an event notification, then do any of the following:
Dismiss the notification: Click .
Temporarily dismiss the notification: Click Options, then choose Snooze (Automatic) or choose a snooze duration.
Join an online meeting: Click Options, then choose Join.
Get directions to the event location: Click Options, then choose Directions.
See more details: Click the notification to open the event in Calendar, or click to see details in the notification.
Mute notifications from Calendar: Click , click , then choose an option.
If you choose Snooze (Automatic), the notification reappears in nine minutes or at the start of the event, whichever is sooner. If you choose Snooze (Automatic) after the start time, it reappears in nine minutes.
Manage notifications per calendar
Go to the Calendar app on your Mac.
Control-click the name of the calendar in the calendar list, then choose Get Info.
If you don’t see the calendar list on the left, choose View > Show Calendar List.
Select or unselect “Ignore alerts”, then click OK.
Manage other notifications from Calendar
Go to the Calendar app on your Mac.
Choose Calendar > Settings, then click Alerts.
Select or unselect any of the following tick boxes:
Time to Leave: Receive notifications based on your location and the location of upcoming events.
Show shared calendar messages in Notification Centre: See shared calendar messages in Notification Centre
Show invitation messages in Notification Centre: See invitation messages in Notification Centre.
Turn Calendar notifications on or off
On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Notifications in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
Go to App Notifications on the right, click Calendar, then turn Allow Notifications on or off.
Note: To display notifications from Calendar when a Focus is on, you must allow the notifications to appear. See Set up a Focus.
Change Calendar notification options
You can change the Calendar notification alert style and choose options for time-sensitive alerts, add a badge to the app icon, play a sound for the notification and more.
On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Notifications in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
Go to App Notifications on the right, click Calendar, then do any of the following:
Click the Calendar alert style you prefer: None, Banners or Alerts.
Turn additional options on or off.
Use the pop-up menus to choose options for notification previews and grouping.
