- junk mail (n., adj.)
Use to refer to unwanted mail that users have somehow opted to receive (for example, ads from websites where they’ve shopped). In the Mail app and iCloud Mail, junk mail refers to all unwanted mail, including unsolicited mail from unknown senders (also known as spam).
It’s OK to shorten junk mail to junk when describing how to filter unwanted mail.
To filter junk mail, choose Mail > Settings, click Junk Mail, and then select “Enable junk mail filtering.”
You can mark unwanted mail as junk.
See also spam.
