Change Font Book settings on Mac
Use Font Book settings to change options for where fonts are installed and how duplicates are handled. To change these settings in the Font Book app on your Mac, choose Font Book > Settings.
General settings
Option | Description |
---|---|
Resolve duplicates by moving files to the Bin when possible | Choose whether to move inactive copies of duplicate fonts to the Bin. |
Show fonts managed by non-Apple utilities | Choose whether to show fonts that were installed by third-party apps. |
Sidebar settings
Option | Description |
---|---|
Show these items in the sidebar | Select the fonts, languages or scripts you want to see in the sidebar. Deselect items you no longer want to see in the sidebar. |
Installation settings
Option | Description |

Default install location | Choose where to install fonts:
System fonts you download from Apple aren’t installed in these locations. |
Advanced settings
Option | Description |
---|---|
Reset Fonts | Restore the fonts that were originally included with your Mac and move any fonts you’ve installed to a separate folder. Afterwards, to use any fonts that have been uninstalled, just reinstall them. |
Show Moved Fonts | View any fonts that were moved after a font reset. |
