Create Shared iPad passcodes in Apple Business Manager
If one or more users need their Shared iPad passcode, perform this task so they can sign in to Shared iPad. For federated authentication users, see Create a new sign-in.
Create Shared iPad passcodes for federated accounts
In Apple Business Manager , sign in as a user that has privileges to reset passwords, generate verification codes and create sign-in information. See Role privileges.
Select Users in the sidebar, then select or search for a user in the search field. See How to search.
Select one or more users from the list.
If you selected just one user, select the More button , select the Lock button , then select Create.
If you selected more than one user, select Create in the Create Sign-Ins row.
Select your method to convey the sign in information to the user or users, then select Continue.
If you selected .csv and PDF, select Download and choose from the following:
1-up PDF : this option creates a single page for each user.
8-up PDF : this option creates 8 users per page.
CSV : this option creates a CSV file with five columns: the user’s Managed Apple ID; their first, middle and last name; and their temporary passcode.
If you selected email, Apple Business Manager sends the Shared iPad passcode to the email address listed in the user’s account details. The user receives an email with their Managed Apple ID and Shared iPad passcode.
Reset Shared iPad passcode for a single user
If a user forgets their Shared iPad passcode, you can reset it for them in Apple Business Manager. If federated authentication is turned on, this does not change their federated password.
When the user signs out of Shared iPad, they are asked to authenticate again using their federated authentication password, then enter the temporary passcode.
In Apple Business Manager , sign in as a user that has privileges to reset passwords, generate verification codes and create sign-in information. See Role privileges.

Select the user from the list.
Select the More button , then select the Lock button .
Enter a new passcode, select Continue, select how the passcode will be delivered, then select Continue.
If necessary (for federated authentication accounts) select Sign Out Devices.
Select your method to convey the sign in information to the user, then select Continue.
