Use Repair Assistant to finish a Mac repair

After a part has been installed as part of a Mac repair, use Repair Assistant to retrieve calibration information from Apple and finish the repair.

What is Repair Assistant?

Repair Assistant is a built-in utility for those who repair Apple devices, including as part of the Self-Service Repair programme. It's used to complete Apple's part calibration process and finish the repair. This ensures the installed part meets performance, security, privacy, safety and reliability expectations.

If a part is not calibrated, your Mac shows a notification saying that you need to finish your repair of that part. Whether or not you installed the part yourself, you can use Repair Assistant to finish the repair.

Use Repair Assistant to finish the repair

  1. Make sure your Mac is connected to the internet and meets the system requirements for this feature: It must be a Mac with Apple silicon using macOS Tahoe 26 or later.

  2. Choose Apple menu > System Settings.

  3. Click General in the sidebar, then click About on the right.

  4. Click Parts & Service. This option only appears when your Mac detects that a qualifying part has been repaired.

  5. Click Restart & Finish Repair. This button only appears when Repair Assistant hasn't yet been used to calibrate the part and finish the repair.

Repair & Service information in System Settings, showing a part with the Restart & Finish Repair button.
  6. If you get a message saying that a software update is required, install the latest software updates, then try again.

  7. Your Mac restarts and Repair Assistant opens. Follow the onscreen instructions to finish the repair.
