You can customize the clickpad (Siri Remote 2nd generation or later) and touch surface (Siri Remote 1st generation) to match your particular control style.
Open Settings 
on Apple TV.
Go to Remotes and Devices > Clickpad.
Select Click and Touch to allow both clicking and touch surface tracking. Select Click Only to turn off touch surface tracking.
Open Settings on Apple TV.
Go to Remotes and Devices > Touch Surface Tracking.
Select Fast to make smaller thumb movements move farther on the Apple TV screen. Select Slow to reduce tracking sensitivity.
