Use the Pixelmator Pro toolbar on Mac
The toolbar at the top of the Pixelmator Pro window includes commonly used controls and a customizable collection of tools. You can use the default controls, or customize the toolbar to suit your workflow needs.
Show or hide the toolbar
In Pixelmator Pro on Mac, choose Window > Show (or Hide) Toolbar.
Use the default controls in the toolbar
In Pixelmator Pro on Mac, do any of the following in the toolbar:
Show or hide the Layers sidebar: Click
on the left.
Show or hide interface elements: Click
on the left, then choose an interface element to show or hide (tools, rulers, presets, guides, and so on).
Zoom in and out of an image: Drag the zoom slider on the left to zoom in or out of the image in the canvas. Double-click the zoom slider to fit the canvas to the app workspace.
Rename your document: Move the pointer over the document name in the toolbar, click
, enter a new name, then press Return.
Choose a color: Click
(the color of the circle will reflect the last selected color) on the right to open the color picker. See Choose and manage color swatches and palettes.
Enable HDR content: Click
to enable HDR content in supported file formats.
Remove the background from an image layer: With an image layer selected in the Layers sidebar, click
. See Remove or hide the background in an image.
Rotate the document 90°: Click
to rotate all layers in your document 90° to the left. To rotate the document 90° to the right, press and hold the Option key, then click
.
View document info: Click
to open an info window displaying document properties and metadata. You can also add descriptions and keywords in the info window.
Export or share an optimized image: Click
to export and share an image or video to Photos, Mail, Messages, and other apps, or share it via AirDrop. You can also choose from a number of quick export formats. See Quickly export or share an optimized image.
Access quick actions: Click
to quickly change the image or canvas size, roate the image, use the Super Resolution feature, trim the canvas, reveal hidden areas of the canvas, and change document color settings.
Customize the toolbar
In Pixelmator Pro on Mac, Control-click in the toolbar, then choose Customize Toolbar.
Do any of the following:
Add a tool to the toolbar: Drag an icon from the dialog to the toolbar.
Remove a tool from the toolbar: Drag an icon away from the toolbar.
Rearrange the toolbar: Drag an icon in the toolbar to a new position in the toolbar.
Restore the toolbar to default settings: Drag the default tool set from the bottom of the dialog to the toolbar.
When you’re finished making changes, click Done.
