Resize, rotate, and flip layers in Pixelmator Pro on Mac
You can use the Arrange tool to change the orientation of a layer.
Resize a layer
In Pixelmator Pro on Mac, select
in the Tools sidebar.
Select a layer or a group in the canvas or Layers sidebar.
Do one of the following:
Resize the layer to specific dimensions: In the Arrange pane, enter a new size in the Size fields for width and height.
To change the unit of measurement for the layer, Control-click the number field and choose an option.
Resize the layer manually: In the canvas, drag any of the layer handles (the small white squares surrounding the layer).
Tip: Select or deselect Constrain Proportions to control how your image resizes.
When a layer extends beyond the part of the canvas you are viewing, the layer handles may not be visible. To resize such layers, zoom out of the image until you see the layer handles.
Rotate a layer
In Pixelmator Pro on Mac, select
in the Tools sidebar.
Select a layer or a group in the canvas or Layers sidebar.
In the Arrange pane, drag in the Rotate wheel.
To rotate the layer in 45° increments, press and hold the Shift key as you drag.
Tip: You can also rotate a layer by pressing and holding the Command key while you drag a layer handle in the canvas.
Flip an image or shape layer
In Pixelmator Pro on Mac, select
in the Tools sidebar.
Select a layer or a group in the canvas or Layers sidebar.
In the Arrange pane, click
to flip the layer vertically, or
to flip it horizontally.
Update the orientation of the shape handles
When you rotate a shape, Pixelmator Pro remembers its original orientation. As a result, whenever you flip a rotated shape, it’s flipped according to the original, rather than the new orientation. To update the orientation of the shape, you can reset its layer handles.
In Pixelmator Pro on Mac, select a shape layer.
Choose Format > Shape > Reset Shape Handles.
