Login Items preferences
If you’re an administrator of your Mac, you can use the Login Items pane of Users & Groups System Preferences to select the apps, documents, and server connections that open automatically when you log in to your Mac.
To view these preferences, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Users & Groups, select your user name on the left, then click Login Items at the top of the Window.

List of items | Items that open automatically at login. | ||||||||||
Hide column | If you don’t want an item’s windows to be visible after login, select the Hide checkbox. This option has no effect on server connections; server connections always appear in the Finder after login. | ||||||||||
Item column | Icon and name of the app, document, or connection that opens automatically. | ||||||||||
Kind column | Type of item (app, document, or folder). | ||||||||||
Add and Remove | To have an item open automatically at login, click the Add button on the right, then select the item. To stop an item from opening automatically, select the name of the item, then click the Remove button on the right. | ||||||||||
Add and Remove | To add a new user or group, click the Add button on the left, then enter the information for the new user or group. To delete a user or group, select it in the list, then click the Remove button on the left. For more information, see Set up users, guests, and groups and Delete a user or group. | ||||||||||
Lock | Locks or unlocks Users & Groups preferences. Click the lock icon to unlock it, then enter an administrator name and password. |
