For precision audio editing, you can zoom in to audio clips at the subframe level. A subframe has 1/80 the duration of a video frame and is thus a more precise unit of reference when editing audio. You can view subframes in the timecode display below the viewer when you zoom in to audio waveforms.
- Go to the Final Cut Pro app on your iPad. on your iPad.
- Open a project.
- In the timeline, drag the playhead over a clip with an audio waveform.
- Pinch open in an empty area in the timeline to zoom in on the waveform.
- Continue to pinch open at the playhead until a gray overlay appears in the timeline, indicating the borders of a video frame. - The timecode display below the viewer expands to show subframe timecode. You can continue to zoom in for a closer view of the waveform.
- Optionally use keyframes at the subframe level to make volume changes over time.
