Choose which episodes play next in Podcasts on Mac

You can choose which episodes play next by creating a Playing Next queue, which is similar to a playlist in Apple Music. To catch up on new episodes, continue one you started, or revisit one you recently played, use the New Episodes, Continue Playing, and Recently Played sections on the Home section.

Create a Playing Next queue

Go to the Podcasts app on your Mac.
Click any option in the sidebar.
Select any episode, or a show you follow.
Click , then choose Play Next or Add to Queue.
If you choose Play Next, the episode you selected (or the latest episode of the show you selected) appears at the top of the Playing Next queue. If you choose Add to Queue, the episode appears at the bottom of the queue.
Click in the playback controls, then do any of the following:
- Play an episode in the queue: Click the episode.
  Note: Some shows include chapters within an episode, which allow you to jump quickly to a specific part of the episode that’s playing.
- Change the order of episodes you manually added to the queue: Drag up or down.
- Remove an episode from the Playing Next queue: On a trackpad or Magic Mouse, swipe left with two fingers on an episode you manually added to the queue, then click Remove.
  Note: Some shows include chapters within an episode, which allow you to jump quickly to a specific part of the episode that’s playing.

The Playing Next queue appears onscreen until you click again to close it.

Use the Home sections

Go to the Podcasts app on your Mac.
Click Home in the sidebar.
Browse any of the following sections:
- New Episodes: Shows the latest unplayed episodes from shows you’ve saved or followed.
- Continue Playing: Shows episodes you’ve started but haven’t finished.
- Recently Played: Shows episodes you’ve listened to recently.
Do any of the following:
- Play an episode: Click in the episode tile.
- View more episodes in a section: Click or .
- View episode information: Click , then choose Go to Episode.
- View show information: Click , then choose Go to Show.
- Add an episode to the Playing Next queue: Click in the episode tile, then choose Play Next (to make the episode first in the queue) or Add to Queue (to add the episode to the end of the queue).
- Mark an episode as played: Click in the episode tile, then choose Mark as Played.
