If you have problems with startup items
Some apps put items in the StartupItems folder, located in the Library folder. When you start your Mac, items placed in this folder open automatically.
If your Mac detects that an item in your StartupItems folder doesn’t have the proper security settings, it indicates that this item may have been tampered with and may cause problems if opened.
Another possible problem could be that the StartupItems folder has incorrect security settings.
Here are some things you can try to resolve the problem:
Fix the settings: macOS corrects the item’s security settings so that the item opens every time you start your Mac. After the item’s security settings are fixed, you must restart your Mac to use the item. You can use your Mac without restarting, but the item won’t open until you restart.
Disable the item: The item won’t open, and you won’t see the warning message again. If the item was installed by an app, this option may affect the app’s performance. Check with the software developer.
Decide later what to do: The item won’t open and the next time you start your Mac, you see the same message. In the meantime, you can check with the software developer to make sure the item is safe to open.
Before you install an app, be sure it’s compatible with your Mac. If you have questions about whether an app installs items in the StartupItems folder, see the documentation that came with the app or contact the software developer.
