Translation, Braille category, VoiceOver Utility on Mac
Use the Translation pane of the Braille category in VoiceOver Utility to customize translation settings for a braille display connected to your Mac.
To open VoiceOver Utility, press Command-F5 to turn VoiceOver on, then press VO-F8.
Note: VO represents the VoiceOver modifier. See Use the VoiceOver modifier.
Option | Description |
---|---|
Output | Click the pop-up menu, then choose how you want to show braille output.

Input | Click the pop-up menu, then choose how you want to type braille input.

Translate after | Click the pop-up menu, then choose when you want VoiceOver to automatically translate the characters you type.

Braille tables list | To add a braille translation table so that it’s available in the Braille Table in the Verbosity rotor, click the Add button , then choose a table. Depending on the language, you can add a System or Liblouis table, or both. To remove a table, select the table in the list, then click the Remove button . To quickly switch tables while you’re working, press VO-Command-Shift-Right Arrow or Left Arrow until you hear Braille Table. |
