Customize audio output
If a DVD includes multiple soundtracks, such as a commentary track or dialogue in a different language, you can choose which soundtrack to use in DVD Player.
For some DVDs, you may have to use the movie’s interactive menus to make these changes.
Choose a soundtrack
With the movie playing, do one of the following:
From the menu bar: Select Features > Audio, then select the audio track.
From the Controller Drawer: Press and hold the Audio button, then choose the audio track.
From the Controller bar in full-screen view: Click the Streams/Closed Captioning button, then choose the audio track.
Select an audio output device
Select an audio output device for DVD Player. You can use different types of audio equipment to hear the audio from a DVD movie.
Connect your audio device to your computer.
Choose DVD Player > Preferences, then click Disc Setup.
Click the “Audio output” pop-up menu, then choose an option:
System Sound Output: Plays analog audio on your computer’s built-in speakers, stereo headphones, or other audio device, using the audio output device selected in Sound preferences (choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Sound). This is the default option.
Digital Out: Plays digital audio on the digital output device you choose, such as a home theater, regardless of the setting in Sound preferences. This option is available only if your audio equipment supports the S/PDIF format.
If you use your computer’s built-in digital audio output when you play a DVD, you hear only audio for the movie; you can’t hear computer alerts or other computer sounds.
Use the Audio Equalizer
Choose Window > Audio Equalizer.
In the Audio Equalizer window, select On.
Optionally, click the pop-up menu, then choose a preset.
Adjust the audio bands as desired.
Create a custom Audio Equalizer preset
Choose Window > Audio Equalizer.
In the Audio Equalizer window, select On.
Click the pop-up menu, choose Manual, then use the sliders in the window to adjust levels.
Click the pop-up menu, choose Save Preset, then give the custom preset a name.
If you want to use the preset with other DVDs, select the “Use for all discs” checkbox.
