The Photos app is organized into Photos, Memories, Shared, and Albums. On your Mac, you also have Projects. When you turn on iCloud Photo Library, your collection is arranged the same way across your devices and navigating your library always feels familiar. And thanks to the advanced search features in Photos, you can find pictures based on a person, place, or object.
First things first
Photos groups your library into Moments, Collections, and Years arranged by when and where you took them.
Moments: See groups of your photos and videos taken around the same time and place, like an afternoon at the beach.
Collections: Find distinct Moments taken at the same place, like your vacation in San Diego.
Years: View your entire library in a beautiful mosaic of all the photos and videos you’ve taken each year.
Tap or click the location of any Moment, Collection, and Year to see a summary of its photos and videos, the people in them, a map showing where they were taken, and related memories for you to explore.
Relive your favorite moments in Memories. Photos searches your photos and videos to find events, trips, people, and more, then presents them in beautiful collections. That way you can rediscover a weekend hike or big events like a first birthday.
Go to Memories and browse up to three new ones a day.
Looking for a place to gather and share everyone's photos from the family reunion? iCloud Photo Sharing lets you do just that in Shared.
When you have a photo, video, or album that you want to share, tap or click and choose iCloud Photo Sharing. You can invite up to 100 of your friends and family to see them. Then they can comment and even add their own photos too.
Go to Shared to see all of the photos and videos that you're sharing, what others shared with you, and the likes and comments the photos get.
In Albums, you find the photo albums you’ve created, and automatic collections of different types of photos and videos, like Panoramas, Selfies, Slo-mo, and Time Lapse. You can even look at your photos arranged on a world map in the Places album, or browse your photos based on who’s in them in the People album.
On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, the All Photos album shows your entire collection in the order you added them to your library. To get a similar view on your Mac, click Photos in the sidebar, then select the Photos tab at the top of the window.
Photos makes it easy to keep your collection organized just the way you want. And when you use iCloud Photo Library, the changes you make to your albums on one device appear on your other devices too.
