Repair and clone areas in an image in Pixelmator Pro on iPad
Use the Repair and Clone tools to fix imperfections, remove unwanted objects, or duplicate parts of an image. These brush-based retouching tools are often used in combination with one another to make realistic edits. You can apply both tools by dragging over specific areas of a layer in the canvas.
Use the Repair tool to remove specific elements from an image
The Repair tool uses intelligent image analysis to remove unwanted details from an image—anything from small imperfections such as a facial blemish or a wrinkle in a garment to discrete objects. When you tap or drag over an area in the canvas, the Repair tool removes unwanted detail and replaces it with surrounding image detail including colors, texture, and lighting.
In Pixelmator Pro on iPad, select a layer in the Layers sidebar.
Select
in the Tools sidebar.
In the toolbar at the bottom of the canvas, adjust the tool settings:
Drag the slider to adjust brush size.
Tap
, then turn on Sample All Layers to sample from every visible layer in the Layers sidebar.
In the canvas, tap or drag over an area in an image that you want to remove.
Tip: To use the Repair tool nondestructively, create a new empty layer above the layer you want to repair, turn on Sample All Layers in the toolbar at the bottom of the canvas, then drag in the canvas. To disable the retouching, turn off the switch for the new layer in the Layers sidebar.
Duplicate objects in an image
The Clone tool copies part of an image from one area to another. Choose a source area, then drag in the canvas to duplicate it in a new location.
