Change TCP/IP settings in Network preferences on Mac Use the TCP/IP pane of Network preferences on your Mac to configure IPv4 or IPv6 connections, or to renew a DHCP lease.
To change these preferences on your Mac, choose Apple menu
If there’s a lock unlock the preference pane .

Option
Description
Configure IPv4
Choose your ISP’s recommended IPv4 configuration method.
Using DHCP: Choose this if you receive an IPv4 address automatically from your ISP.
Using DHCP with manual address: Choose this if your ISP gave you a specific IP address and uses DHCP, then enter the IP address.
Using BootP: Choose this if your ISP uses BootP.
Manually: Choose this if you received a specific IPv4 address, a subnet mask, and a router address from your ISP, then enter those values.
Off: Choose to turn off the IPv4 settings for this interface.
Configure IPv6
Choose your ISP’s recommended IPv6 configuration method.
Automatically: Choose this if you receive an IPv6 address automatically from your ISP.
Manually: Choose this if you received a router address, IPv6 address, and prefix length from your ISP, then enter those values.
Link-local only: Choose this to to limit IPv6 traffic to the local network.
Renew DHCP Lease
Renew the DHCP lease.
, select a network service in the list on the left, click Advanced, then click TCP/IP.
at the bottom left of the Network pane, click it to unlock the preference pane.
