Use Wi-Fi settings on Mac
On your Mac, you can use Wi-Fi settings to turn Wi-Fi on or off, connect to Wi-Fi networks and Personal Hotspots, and enter or change settings for your available Wi-Fi networks.
Tip: To quickly turn Wi-Fi on or off or to connect to a Wi-Fi network, use the Wi-Fi status menu in the menu bar.
Turn Wi-Fi on or off
Go to the System Settings app
on your Mac.
Click Wi-Fi
in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)

Connect to a Wi-Fi network or Personal Hotspot
Go to the System Settings app
on your Mac.
Click Wi-Fi
in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
Move the pointer over the name of the Wi-Fi network or Personal Hotspot you want to join, then click Connect.
If you don’t see the network you want to join, click Other, enter the network name and password, then click OK.
If you don’t see or can’t connect to the Personal Hotspot you want to join, see the Apple Support article If Personal Hotspot is not working on your iPhone or iPad (Wi-Fi + Cellular).
Choose whether to connect to known networks automatically
Go to the System Settings app
on your Mac.
Click Wi-Fi
in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
Click the pop-up menu next to “Ask to join networks,” then choose Off, Notify, or Ask.
Choose whether to automatically discover nearby Personal Hotspots
Go to the System Settings app
on your Mac.
Click Wi-Fi
in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
Click the pop-up menu next to “Ask to join hotspots,” then choose Never, Ask To Join, or Automatic.
Enter or change Wi-Fi settings
Go to the System Settings app
on your Mac.
Click Wi-Fi
in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
Click Details.
Change the settings as needed.
