Zoom in to audio waveforms in Final Cut Pro for iPad
For precision audio editing, you can zoom in to audio clips at the subframe level. A subframe has 1/80 the duration of a video frame and is thus a more precise unit of reference when editing audio. You can view subframes in the timecode display below the viewer when you zoom in to audio waveforms.
Go to the Final Cut Pro app on your iPad.
Open a project.
In the timeline, drag the playhead over a clip with an audio waveform.
Pinch open in an empty area in the timeline to zoom in on the waveform.
Continue to pinch open at the playhead until a gray overlay appears in the timeline, indicating the borders of a video frame.
The timecode display below the viewer expands to show subframe timecode. You can continue to zoom in for a closer view of the waveform.
Optionally use keyframes at the subframe level to make volume changes over time.
