Vendor-specific guidelines for Health Records
Contact your EHR vendor for assistance with these steps.
For additional assistance, or if your organization has been published, and youʼd like to change its logo, description, or brand in the Health app on iPhone or iPad, or to add additional locations, please contact health_records_support@apple.com.
Allscripts
If you intend to register your organization to support Health Records, and your organization has already enabled FHIR API endpoints, complete the registration process described in this document. During the process, a notification is sent to Allscripts, and then an Allscripts representative provides you with the necessary information to complete the process.
If your system hasn’t been enabled for FHIR API endpoints, or if you’re unsure whether your version of EHR supports FHIR API endpoints, log a case with the Support Portal on Allscripts Central to request more information about your implementation and details about how to connect. If you have any questions before registering or logging a case, email AppleHealthRecordsActivation@allscripts.com to contact an Allscripts representative.
AltheaCare
To register in Health Records, your system must be using Althea Smart EHR version 3.0 or later.
If your organization wants to support Health Records, contact Althea Support at altheasupport@mdsynergy.com to get details about your FHIR API endpoints. Your organization must be registered for the Althea Health patient portal.
After you complete the initial registration process, AltheaCare is notified of the registration, and an AltheaCare representative contacts you about the necessary details required to complete the process.
athenahealth
FHIR API endpoints are inherently enabled for all athenahealth customers of athenaOne and athenaClinicals. However, customers must still activate Health Records for their athenaNet practice ID(s) to permit patients access to their health information via the Health app.
To activate Health Records, go to the Health Records on iPhone page on the athenahealth Marketplace website, click Get Started Now, then submit the form with your athenaNet practice ID(s). You’ll receive an email from athenahealth requesting any additional information required to complete activation. If you have questions, contact PHRrequests@athenahealth.com.
Cerner Millennium with Ignite APIs, CommunityWorks, or PowerWorks
If your system has enabled the Patient Access side of Ignite APIs, do the following:
Inform your Cerner representative of your intent to register with Health Records, and Cerner will provide you with the necessary information to complete the registration process.
Ask your Cerner representative to contact the Open Platforms team at Cerner to add the Health app to your organization’s allow list.
If you are on the Millennium platform, after your test patient account is configured in your production EHR system, run the Cerner Smart App Validator and confirm that all resources pass.
During the registration process, you can allow your Cerner representative to configure the technical details on your organization’s behalf by identifying your representative as your technical contact with Administrator privileges.
Note: If your EHR system is on the CommunityWorks or PowerWorks platform, you aren’t required to configure a test patient account.
If your system doesn’t have the Patient Access side of the Ignite API platform, work with your Cerner representative to determine when your system will have patient-enabled APIs.

Note: Cerner supports FHIR version R4 and FHIR version DSTU2. See Support for FHIR version R4.

During the registration process, a notification is sent to DrChrono, and then a DrChrono Account Manager provides you with the necessary information to complete the process.
If you’re unsure whether your organization can participate or if you have questions about this process, contact your DrChrono Account Manager or submit a request to DrChrono.

Epic
Ask your Epic administrator to log in to the Apple Health page on Open Epic, then click Request Download in the upper-right corner. This allows Apple to create a client secret and assign it to your organization.
Use the Production FHIR base URL from Open Epic to configure your FHIR API endpoint.
After your test patient account is configured in your system, run the Epic API Configuration Checker and confirm that all resources pass.
If another organization is connected to your Epic instance as a community connect partner, make sure the organization registers with Health Records as a separate organization. Inform the community connect partner to register the technical contact from your organization as the technical contact for their organization, because the same EHR gateway is used for both organizations.
If your system doesn’t have patient-enabled APIs, work with your Epic technical service representative to determine when your system will have them.

To register in Health Records, your NextGen Enterprise EHR system must meet the following requirements:
Be using NextGen Enterprise EHR 5.9.0 or later.
Your system has NextGen APIs installed and NextGen Patient Access API enabled.
See the Healthcare Technology Platform page on the NextGen website.
Participating organizations should be enrolled in the NextGen Patient Access API.
