Clean your computer screen
Use the instructions below to clean the screen of your portable or desktop Mac, or to clean your Apple-manufactured display.
WARNING: Don’t clean the screen with a cleaner containing acetone. Don’t use window cleaners, household cleaners, aerosol sprays, solvents, ammonia, abrasives, or cleaners containing hydrogen peroxide to clean the screen.
WARNING: Never spray cleaner directly on the screen. It may drip inside the display and cause damage.
Clean your computer’s screen
Shut down the computer and disconnect the power cord and any connected devices.
Dampen the cloth that came with your computer with water only. (Alternatively, you can use a clean, soft, lint-free cloth.) Then wipe the screen.
Clean the screen of an Apple Thunderbolt Display or other Apple-manufactured display
Disconnect the display from power, from a computer, and from any external devices.
Using the cloth that came with the display, or using a soft, dry cloth, wipe any dust from the screen.
If additional cleaning is required, slightly dampen a soft, dry cloth with water or a cleaner intended for use with a screen or display, then wipe the screen. Avoid getting moisture in openings.
