Change general preferences in Contacts on Mac
Use General preferences in Contacts to choose how names and addresses are shown on contact cards.
To view these preferences, in the Contacts app on your Mac, choose Contacts > Preferences, then click General.
Show First Name | Display contacts’ first names before or after last names. This setting determines the order of the names in the card template in Contacts Template preferences. |
Sort By | Sort contacts by first or last name. |
Short Name Format | Choose how contacts’ names appear in apps like Mail. |
Prefer nicknames | Choose to show nicknames for contacts if one is available. A contact needs a nickname field for a nickname to appear. |
Show contacts Siri found in Apps | Include suggested contacts from other apps like Mail. |
Address Format | Choose a region’s address format to use to display addresses. |
Default Account | If you use multiple accounts in Contacts, choose the one where you want to add new contacts by default. |
