Add family members to a Family Sharing group on Mac
The family organizer can add up to five family members. Each new family member receives an invitation to join the family.
For information about managing Family Sharing settings using an iOS or iPadOS device, see the Apple Support article Set up Family Sharing.
On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Family Sharing , then select Family in the sidebar.
Click the Add button , then do one of the following:
Invite family members: Click Invite People, then follow the onscreen instructions.
If the person you’re inviting is nearby, you can choose Invite in Person and ask them to enter their Apple ID and password on your Mac. Otherwise, you can send the invitation using Mail, Messages, or AirDrop.
If the person you’re inviting doesn’t have an Apple ID, they have to create one before they can accept your invitation.
Create an Apple ID for a younger child: Click Create Child Account, then follow the onscreen instructions. See the Apple Support article Family Sharing and Apple ID for your child.
Purchases made by new family members are available to the family after the new members confirm the Apple ID they use to share the iTunes Store, App Store, and Apple Books purchases. Each family member can do this in Family Sharing preferences.
Tip: As the family organizer, you can resend an email invitation to someone who hasn’t accepted the invitation yet. In Family Sharing preferences, click Family, then click Resend Invitation next to the family member name.
