Use superscript or subscript in TextEdit on Mac
Adjust the baseline of text in TextEdit documents.
- In the TextEdit app  on your Mac, select the text. on your Mac, select the text.
- Choose Format > Font > Baseline, then move the text in one of the following ways: - Above the body text: Choose Superscript, or choose Raise to move it up a bit. 
- Below the body text: Choose Subscript, or choose Lower to move it down a bit. 
 
To realign the text with the default baseline, choose Format > Font > Baseline > Use Default.
