Change WINS options on Mac
Windows Internet Naming Service (WINS) is part of Microsoft Windows servers. It maps server names and locations with Internet Protocol (IP) addresses.
If your network requires you to use a WINS server, enter the settings for the server in Network preferences.
On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Network.
In the list on the left, select the network service you want to set up to use a WINS server, such as Ethernet or Wi-Fi.
Click Advanced, then click WINS.
Enter the NetBIOS name you received from your network administrator.
Click the pop-up menu, then choose the workgroup you want to use.
Click the Add button , then enter the IP address of the WINS server. Check with your network administrator if you don’t know the address.
Click OK, then click Apply to make the settings active for that network service.
You can use different WINS servers for the different network services you use.
