Connect customers to your EHR vendor platform in Health Records
After successfully applying to be a vendor for Health Records and testing platforms in a sandbox, EHR vendors take final steps to list their platform as one that supports Health Records.
Note: The steps below apply to technology companies that build EHR platforms. If you represent a healthcare organization wanting to provide health records to your patients, see Prepare to register for Health Records instead.
Bulk-register your customers
Apple uses FHIR base URLs to provide users with access to their own health records, in compliance with federal rules on Interoperability, Information Blocking, and ONC Health IT Certification (established under the 21st Century Cures Act).
Collect the publicly available patient-access FHIR base URLs used by your customers.
Sign in to Health Records at Apple Business Register.
To see how to format the data, click Bulk Organizations Addition Template on the FHIR API profile screen.
Upload a CSV file to the FHIR API profile.
After you’re verified as a vendor, Apple may use this data to register your customers in the Health app.
Pilot test with your customers
If you’re an EHR vendor, you must work with 3 or more customers to validate their production FHIR APIs.
Sign in to Health Records at Apple Business Register.
Click Invite, then provide information for a healthcare organization that uses your EHR platform.
Click Invite at the bottom of the screen.
Repeat this step to invite at least 3 customers.
Click Submit.
Your customers receive an invitation to claim an Apple Business Register account.
Note: To get started with healthcare organization onboarding, see Prepare to register for Health Records or refer to Apple’s guide Registering your Organization for Health Records and Health app data Share with Provider.
Get listed as a vendor
After Apple sends you the final confirmation by email, sign in to Health Records at Apple Business Register, then do one of the following:
Get listed immediately: Click Publish on the sandbox FHIR API Profile screen.
Get listed later: Click Schedule to choose another time to appear within the next 30 days.
Important: If you take no action, your company is listed automatically 3 days after Apple sends you the confirmation email.
As soon as you receive a final confirmation email, you can ask your customers (EHRs or healthcare organizations) to register for Health Records.
Help pilot organizations publish themselves
If you’re an EHR vendor, ask the customers who participated in your pilot to publish in the Health app, choosing you as their EHR vendor.
You appear in the list of supported vendors for your other customers after these items are complete:
At least three healthcare organizations publish endpoints using your EHR.
You publish your sandbox FHIR API profile. See Test your FHIR APIs.
