The glossary defines terms you encounter as you use Transporter help.

App Store Connect | A suite of web-based tools you can use to manage your content. You use App Store Connect to submit and manage your content in the App Store. You also use App Store Connect to accept legal agreements, to enter your tax and banking information and to view trends and financial reports. For more information, see the App Store Connect Help. |

encoding house | The entity that provides encoding, delivery and metadata preparation services for others. Encoding houses can deliver content directly and are contracted by other users for their services. Encoding houses do not have a contractual relationship with Apple. An encoding house and a provider can be the same company. Compare provider. |
HTTPS | Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure is a communication protocol that is encrypted using Transport Layer Security. iBooks format | A file format created for Multi-Touch books and Multi-Touch textbooks on the iPad. Books you create in iBooks format (.ibooks) using iBooks Author support rich typography, precise layout and new interactive objects such as image galleries, quizzes and slideshows. |
iTMSP | A pre-generated file with the .itmsp file extension. A Store Package is a folder that contains the data necessary to describe a product: video files, poster image and the metadata describing it. Each package represents a product in the App Store, Apple Music, Apple TV app or Apple Books. |
iTunes Connect | A suite of web-based tools you can use to sign up to become a content provider and to manage your content. You use iTunes Connect to submit and manage your content in Apple Music, Apple TV app or Apple Books. You also use iTunes Connect to accept legal agreements, to enter your tax and banking information and to view trends and financial reports. package (iTMSP) | A pre-generated file with the .itmsp file extension. A Store Package is a folder that contains the data necessary to describe a product: video files, poster image and the metadata describing how to put it all together. provider | The content-owning entity that has a contract directly with Apple. Providers can be encoding houses, publishers or app developers and can deliver content directly or contract with an encoding house for their services and use the encoding house to deliver content. A provider and an encoding house can be the same company. Compare encoding house. |
publisher | The content-owning entity that has a contract directly with Apple. Publishers are the personal or corporate contributor to the publication content you are delivering directly to Apple Books. |
Signiant Media Exchange | A high speed and secure transfer protocol available in Transporter to help you quickly and securely deliver your content to Apple. For more information, see the Signiant website at http://www.signiant.com. See also Aspera FASP software. |
transfer protocol | A standard network protocol used to transfer computer files between a client and server on a computer network. |
UPC | Universal Product Code. A unique 12-digit identifier for your product. These identifiers, mainly used for the US market, are usually printed on the barcode of CDs. Transporter rejects any new product submitted with a previously-used code. You cannot change the UPC code once you deliver your product. See also Vendor ID. |
Vendor ID | A permanent, unique identifier for a product. Vendor IDs are used to uniquely identify a product in sales reporting. Vendor identifiers do not need to be a fixed number of digits. Although vendor identifiers can contain digits, Transporter treats them as strings, not numbers. Thus, a vendor identifier of “00000000012345” is not the same as “12345”. The vendor identifier can only contain up to 100 alphanumeric characters and underscores (_); it cannot contain spaces, dashes (-), ampersands (&), other punctuation or symbols. The vendor identifier is case-sensitive and must not start with an underscore. Apple recommends using the UPC of your product as the vendor identifier. See also UPC. |
