
Use categories in Mail on iCloud.com
Mail automatically sorts your email messages into categories to help you find and manage them more quickly.
- Primary: Find personal messages, direct communications and time-sensitive information. 
- Transactions: Keep track of your confirmations, receipts and shipping notices. 
- Updates: Catch up on news, newsletters and social updates. 
- Promotions: Browse your marketing, coupons and sale messages. 
When a message in Transactions, Updates or Promotions includes time-sensitive information, it is also included in the Primary message list.
Note: Mail categories may not be available in all languages.
Turn on Mail categories
You can turn on categorisation when you first open Mail on iCloud.com. If you chose Not Now, you can also turn it on later in Settings.
- Go to icloud.com/mail, then sign in to your Apple Account (if necessary). 
- Tap  at the top of the Mailboxes list. at the top of the Mailboxes list.
- Tap Settings, tap Categories, then tap Turn On Categorisation. 
If categorisation is turned on but the categories are not visible, tap  , then tap Show Categories.
, then tap Show Categories.
Change the category of a sender
You can manually categorise messages from a sender.
- Go to icloud.com/mail, then sign in to your Apple Account (if necessary). 
- Select a message, then tap  at the top. at the top.
- Choose Categorise, then choose a specific category or choose to automatically categorise messages. 
- Tap Save. - Your choice applies to all current and future messages from the sender. 
Recategorise all of your messages automatically
You can reset you preferences so all messages are automatically categorised into Primary, Transactions, Updates and Promotions. This removes any manual categorisation.
- Go to icloud.com/mail, then sign in to your Apple Account (if necessary). 
- Tap  at the top of the Mailboxes list. at the top of the Mailboxes list.
- Tap Settings, then tap Categories in the sidebar. 
- Tap Reset Manual Categorisation. 
View and manage all categorised messages from a sender
When you tap a Transactions, Updates or Promotions message, a digest view of messages from that sender opens. For example, if you open a Transactions message, all of the other Transactions messages from that sender appear when you scroll up or down.
- Go to icloud.com/mail, then sign in to your Apple Account (if necessary). 
- Select a Transactions, Updates or Promotions message in the Mailboxes list, then select a message. - All of your messages from the sender in that category appear in a list. 
- To view all of your messages from a sender, tap  at the top of the sender’s message list, then choose All Messages. at the top of the sender’s message list, then choose All Messages.
- To manage all of your messages from a sender, tap  at the top, then choose to mark them as unread, move them to a folder, archive them or delete them. at the top, then choose to mark them as unread, move them to a folder, archive them or delete them.
Note: Primary messages are not grouped by sender.
To view only one Transactions, Updates or Promotions thread when scrolling, tap  , then tap Group By Thread.

Remove time-sensitive messages from the Primary category
- Go to icloud.com/mail, then sign in to your Apple Account (if necessary). 
- Select Primary in the Mailboxes list, then select a message. 
- Tap  at the top, then choose Do Not Show In Primary. at the top, then choose Do Not Show In Primary.
Turn off Mail categories
- Go to icloud.com/mail, then sign in to your Apple Account (if necessary). 
- Tap  at the top of the Mailboxes list. at the top of the Mailboxes list.
- Do one of the following: - Turn off the categories view: Tap Hide Categories. - You can easily hide and show the categories without losing categorisation information. 
- Turn off categorisation: Tap Settings, tap Categories, then tap Turn Off Categorisation. - Future messages are not sorted into categories.
