Locate an AirTag or other item in Find My on Mac
In the Find My app on your Mac, you can see the location of a missing AirTag or third-party item or get notified when it’s located. You can also locate AirTags or items that are shared with you.
Note: To locate a missing item, you must add it to Find My before it’s lost. See the Apple Support article Add an AirTag to Find My to keep track of personal items.
See the location of an item
Go to the Find My app on your Mac.
Click Items, then select the item you want to locate.
If the item can be located: It appears on the map so you can see where it is. The updated location and timestamp appear below the item’s name.
If the item can’t be located: Below the item’s name, “No location found” appears.
Tip: If an item’s battery level is low, a low battery icon appears next to its name in the Items list. See the Apple Support article How to replace the battery in your AirTag.
You can also play a sound on the missing item to help you find it. If you have a supported iPhone, you can find the item’s precise location.
Get directions to an item
Go to the Find My app on your Mac.
Click Items, select the item you want to get directions to, then click on the map.
Click Directions.
The Maps app opens with the directions from your location to the item’s current location. See Get directions in Maps.
Get notified when an item is located
Go to the Find My app on your Mac.
Click Items, then select the item you want to be notified about.
Click on the map, then turn on Notify When Found.
Important: Make sure you allow notifications for the Find My app. See Notifications settings.
To find an item that doesn’t belong to you, see the Apple Support article What to do if you get an alert that an AirTag, set of AirPods, Find My network accessory or compatible Bluetooth location-tracking device is with you.
If your AirTag or other item is lost or stolen, you can protect it by marking it as lost.
Note: Location sharing and finding items aren’t available in all countries or regions.
