Turn on parental controls and authorise discs in DVD Player on Mac
To restrict access to DVDs for certain users, such as children, turn on parental controls in DVD Player. If parental controls are enabled, the computer administrator needs to authorise any DVD before it can play. You can authorise the DVD for one time only, or for every time it’s inserted.
Turn on parental controls
In the DVD Player app on your Mac, choose Features > Enable Parental Controls.
Enter an administrator name and password (or use Touch ID or your Apple Watch).
Change parental control settings for a DVD
In the DVD Player app on your Mac, start playing a DVD. Choose Features > Parental Control Settings, then select one of the following authorisation options:
To allow the DVD to be played without restriction, select Always.
To require an administrator name and password every time the DVD is played, select Play Once.
Enter an administrator name and password when prompted (or use Touch ID or your Apple Watch).
Turn off parental controls
In the DVD Player app on your Mac, start playing a DVD, then choose Features > Disable Parental Controls.
