Set a UNIX shell for Active Directory user accounts in Directory Utility on Mac
On a computer that’s configured to use Directory Utility’s Active Directory connector, you can set the command-line shell that users with Active Directory accounts use by default when interacting with macOS in Terminal.
The default shell is also used for remote interaction through secure shell (SSH) or Telnet. Each user can override the default shell by changing a Terminal setting.
In the Directory Utility app on your Mac, click Services.
Click the lock icon.
Enter an administrator’s username and password, then click Modify Configuration (or use Touch ID).
Select Active Directory, then click the “Edit settings for the selected service” button .
If the advanced options are hidden, click the disclosure triangle next to Show Options.
Click User Experience.
Select Default user shell, then enter the default user shell’s path.
Click OK.
