Create and manage Pages templates on iPad
If you create a document that you want to use again as a model for other documents, you can save it as a template. Creating your own template can be as simple as adding your company logo to an existing template, or you can design a completely new template.
You can add your custom templates to the template chooser, save them as a file to share with others, and use them in Pages on your Mac or iPhone. Custom templates that you create on your iPad are grouped in the My Templates category of the template chooser and are shared across all your devices.
Save a document as a template
If you’re signed in to iCloud and have iCloud Drive turned on when you save your custom template, it’s available on all your devices (but not in Pages for iCloud).
Tap , tap Export, then tap Pages Template.
Tap an option:
Add to Template Chooser: Your template appears in the My Templates category in the template chooser. You can see the new template on all your devices as long as you’re signed in to iCloud and have iCloud Drive turned on when you save the template.
Send Template: Choose where you want to send your template, or save it to Files.
If you add your custom template to the template chooser, you can still share it later. Just tap and hold the template thumbnail in the template chooser, then tap Share. If the Share option isn’t available, you may need to download the template to your device.
Install a template from another source on your iPhone or iPad
You can install a custom template that you received as an attachment by adding it to the template chooser in Pages.
Note: If you created a custom template and chose Add to Template Chooser while signed in to iCloud, it’s already installed on all your devices and available in the My Templates category of the template chooser.
On your device, do the following to install a template from these sources:
AirDrop: Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open Control Center, then tap AirDrop. Tap a discovery option, and when the AirDrop message appears, tap Add.
An email: In Mail, tap the attachment, then tap the screen. Tap at the top of the screen, tap Open in Pages, then tap Add.
iCloud, iTunes, or a WebDAV server: Open Pages, and if a document is already open, tap Documents at the top of the screen to see all your documents. Tap Browse at the bottom of the screen to see the Locations list on the left, then tap where you want to install the template (iCloud Drive, WebDAV, or On My iPad). Tap the template, then tap Add.
Rename a custom template
Open Pages, and if a document is open, tap Documents in the top-left corner to see all your documents.
Tap to open the template chooser.
Tap My Templates near the top of the screen.
Tap the template name, then type a new name.
To quickly delete the current name, tap the “x” in the text field.
Tap Done.
Delete a custom template
If you’re signed in to iCloud and have iCloud Drive turned on, deleting a custom template deletes it from all your devices.
Open Pages, and if a document is already open, tap Documents in the top-left corner to see all your documents.
Tap to open the template chooser.
Scroll down to My Templates.
Touch and hold the template thumbnail, lift your finger, then tap Delete in the menu that appears.
Tap Delete to confirm, or tap Cancel.
