Change Playback preferences in Music on Mac
In the Music app on your Mac, use the Playback pane in Music preferences to choose how to fade songs in and out, change music sound quality during playback, and more.
To change these preferences, choose Music > Preferences, then click Playback.
Note: Lossless and Dolby Atmos aren’t available in all countries or regions. See the Apple Support article Availability of Apple Media Services.

Crossfade Songs | Fade songs in and out, with no silence between songs. Drag the slider to change the amount of time it takes for the current song to fade out at the end and the new song to fade in. | ||||||||||
Sound Enhancer | Change the music’s sound quality during playback. Drag the slider to increase or decrease the Sound Enhancer’s effect. | ||||||||||
Sound Check | Play all music and music videos at the same volume level. | ||||||||||
Lossless audio | Choose to use Apple Lossless audio. Note: This option appears if you’re signed in as a subscriber to Apple Music. | ||||||||||
Streaming (Audio Quality) | Choose the option that works best with your computer, headphones, or connected speakers when streaming songs. Note: This option appears if you’re signed in as a subscriber to Apple Music. | ||||||||||
Download (Audio Quality) | Choose the option that works best with your computer, headphones, or connected speakers when playing downloaded songs. Note: This option appears if you’re signed in as a subscriber to Apple Music. | ||||||||||
