Sign in to or out of FaceTime on Mac
To stop making and receiving calls through FaceTime, sign out of FaceTime or turn it off.
Sign in to FaceTime
You can use your Mac to make and receive calls when you’re signed in to FaceTime. You need to sign in the first time you open the app, or if you’ve signed out.
In the FaceTime app on your Mac, enter your Apple ID and password.
If you forgot your Apple ID or password or if you need to create an Apple ID, go to the Apple ID account website.
Click Next to sign in.
Stop receiving calls in FaceTime
If you no longer want to receive calls in FaceTime on your Mac, you can sign out. You won’t be able to make calls, receive calls, change FaceTime settings, or view previous calls until you sign in to FaceTime again.
Turning off FaceTime on each of your Apple devices also turns off calls and hides your call history, but leaves you signed in so you can access settings and turn FaceTime back on with a single click. If someone calls you, you won’t receive a notification for the call; to the caller, it looks like you’re not available.
In the FaceTime app on your Mac, do one of the following:
Sign out of FaceTime: Choose FaceTime > Settings, click General, then click Sign Out.
Turn FaceTime off: Choose FaceTime > Turn FaceTime Off. To turn FaceTime on again, click Turn On.
