Hide distractions when watching videos in Safari on Mac
You can use Viewer to fill the current window with the video you’re watching, showing playback controls but hiding the rest of the web page. You can also move the video into Picture in Picture.
Watch a video in Viewer
Go to the Safari app on your Mac.
Go to a web page that contains video, then begin playing the video.
Click in the Smart Search field, then choose Video Viewer.
Video Viewer appears only if the web page has video that Viewer can show.
To stop using Viewer, click in the Smart Search field, then choose Exit Video Viewer (or press Esc).
Move the video in Viewer to Picture in Picture
Go to the Safari app on your Mac.
While watching a video in Viewer, click in the playback controls, then choose Picture in Picture (or click another window).
To stop using Picture in Picture, hold the pointer over the upper-left corner of the window and click .
