If your audio apps stop working while using Audio MIDI Setup on Mac
If you installed a third-party audio driver and your audio apps stopped working, the third-party driver might not be compatible with other apps that use the standard audio drivers in macOS.
Make sure the third-party audio driver is working correctly
Download and install the latest audio drivers from the manufacturer’s website.
If third-party drivers aren’t compatible, and compatible drivers are not available from the manufacturer, you may need to use the standard macOS audio drivers.
Use macOS audio drivers
In the Audio MIDI Setup app on your Mac, in the Audio Devices window, select the speakers for your Mac in the list of audio devices.
At the bottom of the sidebar, click the Configure Selected Device pop-up menu , then choose “Use This Device for Sound Output”.
Tip: You can also Control-click the device in the devices list to quickly access the Configure Selected Device options.
