Out-of-warranty service

Repairs are considered out of warranty when:

  • Your Mac is over one year old
  • Your Mac has an issue that’s not covered under warranty, like accidental damage or damage caused by unauthorized modifications

If your Mac needs a repair that isn't covered by warranty, we might be able to fix it for an out-of-warranty fee. The repair costs will depend on the type of service and if your issue is covered under an AppleCare Protection Plan. You might also have consumer law rights in addition to the Apple warranty.

Apple accessories

The Apple-branded accessories that come in the box with your Mac are covered by our warranty and consumer law. If you bought an AppleCare Protection Plan for your Mac, it also covers the accessories that came with your product.

Battery service for your accessories

Some Mac desktops include accessories with a built-in rechargeable battery. If your accessory’s battery has a manufacturing defect and it's covered by the Apple Limited Warranty, AppleCare Protection Plan, or consumer law, we'll service it at no additional cost. Our warranty doesn’t cover batteries that wear down from normal use.

We might need to test your accessory to find the cause of your battery issue. If your accessory isn't covered by warranty, we can service or replace it for a fee.

You get an additional benefit if you have an AppleCare Protection Plan for your Mac desktop. If your accessory’s battery can hold only 80 percent or less of its original capacity and it's covered by your AppleCare plan, we'll service your accessory at no charge.
