Add or reset verification phone numbers in Apple School Manager
Any users with a role of Administrator, any Manager, Staff or Instructor all require a six-digit verification code along with their Managed Apple ID password. This verification code, which is sent to a phone number associated with the user account, enhances the security of Apple School Manager.
New verification codes are required every 30 days.
When to add a verification phone number
For users having either an Administrator role or a Manager role (for example, Content Manager), you may want to add more than one verification phone number.
Note: Each phone number receives a code that must be entered to verify that specific number. Have all the phones nearby so the codes can be entered.
When to reset a verification phone number
If the user changes phone numbers, you should reset the user account to ask for a new phone number. Accounts that have identical privileges or lesser privileges can be reset only by you.
Add a verification phone number
Go to the Apple ID website and sign in with your Managed Apple ID.
Tap Security.
Tap “Add a trusted phone number”, enter the phone number, select Text Message or Phone Call, then tap Continue.
Enter the six-digit code, then tap Verify.
Reset a verification phone number
In Apple School Manager , sign in as a user that has the role of Administrator, Site Manager or People Manager.
Tap Users in the sidebar, then search for a user in the search field. See How to search.
Select the user from the list.
Tap , then tap Reset.
When the user signs in again, they are prompted to add a new phone number.
