Use Tab preferences in Terminal to specify the information that appears in the title of tabs for a profile. To open this pane, choose Terminal > Preferences, click Profiles, then click Tab.
Select information to display in the title for a tab.
Working directory or document: Displays the name of the working directory or document.
Path: Displays the directory or document path.
Active process name: Displays the name of the active process.
Arguments: Displays the arguments for the active process.
TTY name: Displays the terminal name.
Show other items when there is a custom title: If you created a custom title, this checkbox controls whether the other items selected for the title are displayed.
Show activity indicator: Displays an activity indicator.
