Add or remove trusted phone numbers on Mac
A trusted phone number is the phone number used to verify your identity when you sign in on a different device or browser.
You must verify at least one trusted phone number when you enroll in two-factor authentication. You should also consider verifying other phone numbers you can access, such as a home phone or a number used by a family member or close friend.
Go to the System Settings app
on your Mac.
Click your name at the top of the sidebar.
If you don’t see your name, click “Sign in,” enter your Apple Account email address or phone number, then enter your password.
Click Sign-In & Security, then click Two-Factor Authentication.
Below Verify Using, do any of the following:
Add a phone number: Click Add a Trusted Phone Number. If prompted, enter your Apple Account password or Mac login password, and enter the verification code sent to a current trusted phone number. Choose the country code, enter a phone number that can be used to verify your identity, select whether you want to be reached by text or phone call, then click Next. Enter the code sent to the phone number and click Next. Your trusted phone numbers appear in a list.
Remove a phone number: Select a phone number, then click Remove from Account.
Note: You must have at least one trusted phone number when you use two-factor authentication. If you only have a single trusted phone number, it can’t be removed.
You can also manage your trusted devices and phone numbers by signing in to your Apple Account page.
