Link to a web page, email or page in Pages on iPhone
You can turn any text into a link that goes to a bookmark (in a word processing document) or another page (in a page layout document), or opens a web page or email message.
Pages automatically detects valid web addresses (URLs) and email addresses and styles them (for example, with an underline or different colour) to indicate that they’re active links. You can edit these links or deactivate them so that they appear and behave as normal text. If you don’t want Pages to automatically detect links, you can turn off automatic link formatting.
Add a link
Select the text you want to turn into a link, then tap Link.
Turn your iPhone to landscape orientation or tap to see Link.
Tap Link To and choose a link type (Web page, Email, Page or Bookmark).
Specify details for the destination:
Web page: Opens a web page in a browser. In the Display field, enter the text you want readers to see. For example, you may want to show the domain name and not the entire web address. In the Link field, enter the URL for the web page.
Email: Opens an email message pre-addressed with the address you provide in the To field. In the Display field, enter the text you want readers to see. For example, you may want to show the recipient name and not the entire email address. Enter a subject in the Subject field or leave it blank.
Page: Goes to another page in the document. Tap the page thumbnail below Link To, then tap the destination page number. In the Display field, enter the text you want readers to see.
Bookmark: Goes to text you’ve bookmarked. Tap the bookmark you want to link to. In the Display field, enter the text you want readers to see.
To verify the destination, tap Back, then tap the Open Link, Compose Email, Go to Page or Go to Bookmark button.
If you don’t need to verify the link, tap the document to close the controls.
Edit or deactivate a link
Tap the linked text (in a table cell, tap the cell first, then tap the link).
In the link editor, tap Link Settings.
Make your changes or tap Remove Link.
When you remove a link, the link text is retained but the link formatting is removed and the link is no longer active.
When you’ve finished, tap the document to close the controls.
Turn off automatic formatting for links
If you don’t want Pages to format website URLs and email addresses as active links, you can turn off automatic formatting.
Tap at the top of the screen.
Tap Settings, then tap Auto-Correction.
Turn off Apply Link Style.
Links no longer look like links but are still active unless you also turn off Auto-Detect Links.
The setting applies to new text you enter in all Pages documents. Existing links aren’t affected by the change.
