Organise shortcuts in folders on Mac
You can organise your shortcuts into custom categories by creating folders of related shortcuts. These folders are shown in the Folders area of the sidebar. Additionally, when you select All Shortcuts in the app sidebar, your custom folders are shown in rows in the main window of the app.
Create a custom folder to organise your shortcuts
To create a new custom folder, do one of the following in the Shortcuts app on your Mac:
Move the pointer over the Folders heading in the sidebar, then click .
Choose File > New Folder.
Press Shift-Command-N.
In the dialogue, enter a name for your folder and click Done.
Edit a custom folder’s name and appearance
In the Shortcuts app on your Mac, click a folder in the sidebar
To rename the folder, do one of the following:
Click the name of the folder, then enter a new name and press Return.
Press Return, then enter a new name.
Choose File > Rename, then enter a new name in the dialogue and click Done.
Control-click the folder and choose Rename, then enter a new name in the dialogue and click Done.
To change the folder’s icon, Control-click the folder and choose Edit Icon, then select a new icon from the list.
Create a shortcut in a custom folder
In the Shortcuts app on your Mac, click a folder in the sidebar, then click in the toolbar.
An empty, untitled shortcut appears in the shortcut editor.
Move a shortcut to or from a custom folder
In the Shortcuts app on your Mac, do either of the following:
Move a shortcut to a custom folder: Select All Shortcuts in the sidebar, then drag a shortcut from the main window to a folder in the sidebar.
Remove a shortcut from a custom folder: Select a folder in the sidebar, then drag a shortcut from the main window to All Shortcuts in the sidebar.
Tip: To move more than one shortcut, hold down the Command key and select the shortcuts you want to move.
Delete a custom folder
You can delete your custom folders and optionally delete all the shortcuts inside.
In the Shortcuts app on your Mac, Control-click a folder in the sidebar, then choose Delete.
In the dialogue that appears, do one of the following:
Click Delete Shortcut(s) to delete the folder and its contents.
Click Keep Shortcut(s) to delete the folder but not any shortcuts it contains.
Reorder custom folders
You can reorder your custom folders.
In the Shortcuts app on your Mac, drag a folder in the sidebar to a new position.
