Create, edit and delete playlists in Apple Music on the web
You can create playlists to suit specific moods and to organise songs with a certain theme.
Playlists you create have the Playlist icon next to them.
Collaborative playlists, available in macOS Sonoma 14.3, iOS 17.3, iPadOS 17.3 or later, have a collaborate icon next to the name.
Create a playlist with songs
At music.apple.com , click Home, Browse or any option below Library in the sidebar to display songs you want to add to a playlist.
Move the pointer over a song, click the More button , choose Add to Playlist, then choose New Playlist.
Edit the name of the playlist, then press Return.
The new playlist appears in the sidebar, below Playlists.
Add items to an existing playlist
At music.apple.com , click Home, Browse or any option below Library in the sidebar to display music you want to add to your playlist.
To add items to a playlist, do any of the following:
From anywhere in your music library, drag an item (or items) to a playlist in the sidebar.
Move the pointer over a song or album, click the More button , choose Add to Playlist, then choose a playlist.
In the playlist, scroll down to Suggested Songs, then click the Add button .
To preview the song, click the Play button on the album cover. Or if you’re looking for more suggestions, click Refresh.
Edit a playlist
At music.apple.com , select a playlist in the sidebar.
Do any of the following:
Rename the playlist: Click the More button , choose Edit, then enter a new name.
You can only rename a collaborative playlist (available in macOS Sonoma 14.3, iOS 17.3, iPadOS 17.3 or later) if you’re the host and using the Music app on your device. To open the app directly from Apple Music on the web, just click the link in the bottom-left corner.
Show (or hide) the playlist in your Apple Music profile: Click the More button , choose Edit, then select (or deselect) “Show in My Profile and in Search”.
You can only change this setting for a collaborative playlist (available in macOS Sonoma 14.3, iOS 17.3, iPadOS 17.3 or later) if you’re the host and using the Music app on your device. To open the app directly from Apple Music on the web, just click the link in the bottom-left corner.
Remove an item: Click the More button for the item, then choose Remove from Playlist.
If the deleted song is already in your library, removing it from a playlist doesn’t remove it from your library or storage device.
Add a suggested song to the playlist: Below Suggested Songs (you may need to scroll down), click the Add button .
To preview the song, click the Play button on the album cover. Or if you’re looking for more suggestions, click Refresh.
Delete a playlist
If you delete a playlist, the songs in the playlist remain in your library and on your computer. When you delete a collaborative playlist, the collaboration ends for you (or for everyone, if you’re the host) and the playlist is removed from your library.
At music.apple.com , select a playlist in the sidebar.
Click the More button at the top of the window, then choose Delete From Library.
If you have the Music or iTunes app on your computer or device, you can do much more with playlists, such as create a Smart Playlist that updates automatically based on criteria you choose, or a Genius Playlist that includes music in your library that’s similar to the selected song. Additionally, you can collaborate on a playlist with others (available in macOS Sonoma 14.3, iOS 17.3, iPadOS 17.3 or later). To open the app directly from Apple Music on the web, just click the link in the bottom-left corner.
