Use layer style presets in Pixelmator Pro on Mac
Layer style presets are combinations of layer styles that you can apply to a layer. Pixelmator Pro comes with a number of presets for you to choose from, and you can easily create and save your own.
Apply a layer style preset
In Pixelmator Pro on Mac, select a layer in the Layers sidebar.
Select
in the Tools sidebar.
In the Style pane, click the pop-up menu at the top, choose a preset collection (Gradients, Color Outlines, and so on), then select a Style swatch.
Important: The layer style presets can’t be applied to Color Adjustment layers, Effects layers, or empty layers or selections.
Manage layer style presets
You can create your own presets and edit their properties and names.
In Pixelmator Pro on Mac, select
in the Tools sidebar.
In the Style pane, do any of the following:
Save current styles as a new preset: Click
next to the pop-up menu, then choose Add Preset.
A preset is added to the currently selected preset collection.
Redefine a style preset: Control-click a preset swatch, then choose Redefine. The preset is replaced with current style adjustments.
Rename a Style preset: Control-click a preset swatch, choose Rename, enter a new name, then click Rename.
Remove a Style preset: Control-click a preset swatch, then choose Remove.
Import, export, and manage layer style preset collections
In Pixelmator Pro on Mac, select
in the Tools sidebar.
In the Style pane, click
next to the pop-up menu at the top, then choose any of the following:
New Collection: Creates a new empty style preset collection.
Rename: Renames the current preset collection.
Remove: Deletes the current preset collection.
Export: Exports the current collection as a .layerstyles file.
Import: Imports a Pixelmator Pro layer style preset collection (a .layerstyles file).
Important: If you want to use custom presets created in an earlier version of Pixelmator Pro (Pixelmator Pro 3.7 or earlier), you must export them from the earlier version, then import them into Pixelmator Pro 4.

Export the entire layer styles library
In Pixelmator Pro on Mac, select
in the Tools sidebar.
In the Style pane, Option-click
next to the pop-up menu at the top, then choose Export All.
A .layerstyles file is created.
