Change a password or user picture on Mac

If you’re a standard user or an administrator, you can change your password or user picture.

Users & Groups user settings for a selected user. At the top are the user picture, user name, and the Change button for the password. Below that are options to allow the user to administer the computer and reset their password using their Apple Account. At the bottom are the Help button, a button to open the user’s contact card, and the Cancel and OK buttons.

On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Users & Groups in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)

Click next to a user in the list, then do any of the following:
- Click Change to change your login password, or click Reset to change another user’s password.
- Click a user picture to change the user’s login picture.
Tip: You can also click a user picture in the user list to change the picture.
