If you don’t see Wi-Fi in Network preferences on Mac

If your computer has wireless capability but you don’t see Wi-Fi in Network preferences, the Wi-Fi service may not be set up.

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click Network.

  2. Click the Add button at the bottom of the list.

  3. Click the Interface pop-up menu, then choose Wi-Fi.

  4. Enter a name for the service, then click Create.

    By default, the service is named Wi-Fi, but you can provide any name you want.

  5. Enter settings for the Wi-Fi service, such as the network name, then click Advanced to set other options.

  6. To change which service is used first when more than one is active, click the Action pop-up menu , choose Set Service Order, then drag the network services in the list to change their order.
