Play a presentation over the internet in Keynote for iCloud
You can use Keynote Live to play your presentation over the internet so everyone you give access to can view it at the same time—on their own devices, wherever they are. As the presenter, you control when the presentation starts and stops.
People you invite to view the presentation can watch it on a Mac or Windows computer, an iPhone or iPad, or another mobile device. Viewers need to be using a supported web browser or the latest version of the Keynote app on a Mac (with macOS 10.12 or later), an iPhone (with iOS 10 or later), or an iPad (with iOS 10, iPadOS 13, or later). Viewers don’t need iCloud accounts.
Show your presentation to viewers anywhere
With your presentation open, click the More button in the toolbar, choose Use Keynote Live, then click Continue.
A link (URL) to your presentation is created on iCloud.com.
Tip: To see the URL, click the More button , then click Keynote Live Settings.
To create a Keynote Live password so that only viewers with the link and password can see your presentation, click More Options, click Add Password, enter your password, then click Set Password.
The Keynote Live password is required only when viewing this presentation on Keynote Live and is separate from a password used to protect your presentation.
Do one of the following:
Share the link using email: Click Invite Viewers, type one or more names or email addresses in the email address field, then click Send.
Copy the link and share it in another way: Click More Options, click the link to select it, then press Command-C or Control-C to copy it so you can paste it somewhere else—a social networking site, a blog, or a chat, for example.
Do one of the following:
Play the presentation now: If your viewers are ready to watch, click Play Now.
Note: If you previously shared this presentation so that others could edit it, they can continue to make edits while you present on Keynote Live. However, Keynote Live viewers won’t see any changes made unless you stop and restart the presentation (by pressing Esc, then clicking Play > Play on Keynote Live).
Play the presentation later: Click Play Later.
If you click Play Later, you can continue to edit your presentation, send the link to other people, or add or change the password. When you’re ready to play the presentation, click the Play button in the toolbar, then choose Play on Keynote Live.
Preview your presentation before showing it on Keynote Live: Click Play Later, click the Play button in the toolbar, then choose Play on This Computer.
Note: When you play a presentation using Keynote Live, the slides are exported to iCloud as temporary files. To ensure smooth playback, all of the files are streamed to viewers’ devices as soon as you start presenting. Only viewers with the Keynote Live link (and password, if you’ve set one) can access the files.
Invite more viewers
You can invite new viewers to watch a presentation on Keynote Live when it’s not playing (either before you start playing it or after you press Esc to stop playback).
Click the More button in the toolbar, then choose Keynote Live Settings.
Click Invite Viewers, then enter the email addresses of the people you want to send the link to.
If you interrupted the presentation to invite new viewers, the presentation continues where you left off the next time you click the Play button.
Add or change a Keynote Live password
You can add a Keynote Live password so that only viewers with the password can see the presentation when it’s being presented on Keynote Live.
Note: The Keynote Live password is required only when viewing this presentation on Keynote Live and is separate from a password used to protect your presentation. Each presentation you make available on Keynote Live can have a different password.
Click the More button in the toolbar, then choose Keynote Live Settings.
If the presentation is playing, first press the Esc key to stop playback.
Click Add Password or Change Password, then follow the instructions.
Be sure to send the Keynote Live password to anyone you’ve sent the Keynote Live link to.
Turn off Keynote Live for a presentation
If you invited users to view a Keynote Live presentation but later decide you don’t want anyone to see it, you can disable the Keynote Live link.
Click the More button in the toolbar, then choose Keynote Live Settings.
Click Turn Off Keynote Live.
The link to the presentation no longer works. However, if you later decide to turn Keynote Live back on for this same presentation, the original link works again.
You can also post your presentation on a website that supports embedded Keynote presentations (such as Medium or WordPress) so that viewers can navigate through the presentation in a mini-player on the website. See Post your presentation in a blog in Keynote for iCloud.
