What’s new in Messages on Mac?
The Messages app in macOS Tahoe offers new features including adding backgrounds, sending polls and screening unknown senders.
Quickly gather votes with polls — perfect for deciding where to go for brunch or what movie to see. Watch the votes come in live. See Poll people.
Give each conversation a distinctive look that everyone in the conversation can enjoy. Choose a colourful, dynamic, built-in option like water or aurora, or customise it with any photo of your choosing. See Add backgrounds.
Use the screening tools in Messages to minimise distractions, so you can focus on the conversations that matter. You can filter messages from unknown senders and decide if you get notified about any that are time-sensitive, personal, transactions or promotions. See Screen, block and filter text messages.
Easily navigate everything that's been shared with you by using new, organised sections in the conversation details. Quickly find shared content like photos, links and locations, and see contact info for people you chat with.
Search with more natural language, like “photos of mum during our trip to the beach in December”. Search also shows results based on terms related to what you typed, like texts about the beach or ocean when you type “sand”. See Search for a conversation.
